CAT & DOG MAMA
Hey Sweet Spirit,
My name is Marisa. It's such a pleasure to have you here, exploring my art and creation. I give thanks for that; For every little detail that has synchronistically led you here. Time is precious and here you are, spending yours with me. Every Image you see has been taken by myself & my beloved camera - Her name is Tink. She's pretty amazing & makes one hell of a sidekick. I couldn't do what I do without her. We've been together since my incredibly supportive mother gifted her to me on Christmas Day 2009 & It's amazing to look at how far we've come since then. To capture a moment in time, a memory in time, is magical. Some of my most cherished possessions are photographs of my parents before I was born and Images of myself as a child. There's this one image in particular...I'm a newborn and my Dad is holding me, my head in his hands and my back resting on his inner forearms. We're in the old wood fired hot tub the he built himself, the mood is quiet and still & there's steam gently rising up around us. He's looking down at me and I'm gazing up at him; Just a fresh new little human, taking in the face of my Father - The artist who instilled in me my own deeply passionate love of creativity. On January 1, 2009 my Dad passed away. It's the hardest thing I've faced in my 25 years of life & It's the reason I am so dedicated to my Art. I've often wondered if loosing my Dad isn't the root of why I find myself obsessed with capturing time in stillness, or rather, capturing memories. Precious moments frozen in time that can be cherished and looked upon with reverence. It's such a beautiful concept & I am honored to behold this form of creative passion for photography.
As a photographer I understand the importance of memories, especially the ones that move us & stay with us throughout our entire lives. I think this is why I'm so drawn to capturing the light & shadow that is this human experience. Life is real & raw & it pushes us to our limits, both in positive and negative ways. It all matters. It's all a part of the greater whole. We are all incredible artifacts carved and etched into by the sum total of all of our experiences. To capture the sum total of you is my main desire & goal. To create images that portray who you really are is why I do what I do & the thought of being able to help you preserve some of the most incredible times in your life sets my heart soaring.
ART IS LIFE. LIFE IS ART.
